Blasting

Our Blasting Coating

Blasting is done before a protective coating is added to strip imperfections such as rust and other contaminants from the metal surface. It cleans the metal and provides a better surface to hold a protective coating.

Abrasive blasting is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants. A pressurized fluid, typically compressed air, or a centrifugal wheel is used to propel the blasting material (often called the media).

There are several variants of the process, using various media; some are highly abrasive, whereas others are milder. Blast media and anchor profiles are determined by the paint technical data sheet for the product being applied to the base material.

Matrixx Protective Solutions has 3 MUB blast cabinets, 1 glass bead machine and a Quonset with exterior capabilities of blasting larger industrial jobs.
